Theatre Arts

The Marriotts Ridge High School Theatre Department is comprised of students in theatre courses as well as students involved in the department's productions and activities.

MRHS Theatre Department produces three major productions each year - a fall play, Jukebox, an original musical revue, and a spring musical. Any student can audition for these productions or participate on a technical crew. MRHS Theatre Department is part of the active MRHS Fine Arts Department. We strive to be an inclusive, creative, and collaborative department where artistic and personal growth is our highest goal

The Marriotts Ridge Theatre Department is a member of the Howard County Student Theatre Reviewers (STARS).

See the Announcements page for the info for the spring auditions for the fall play!

The Howard County Public School System’s Office of Fine Arts Proudly Announces The Third Annual HC Stars Celebration.

At the start of the 2009-2010 school year, the Howard County Public School System’s High School Theatre Arts teachers launched a program to foster theatre appreciation and to promote the twelve high school theatre arts programs.  The program was named HC STARS – The Howard County Student Theater Association of Reviewers. Now in its third year, the STARS program allows each of the twelve high schools to train and field a team of student critics who attend HCPSS productions and write reviews. These reviews are then published on the community website HOCOMOJO (www.hocomojo.com) and the top review is chosen to air on the school system’s award-winning cable show, Arts A La Carte.

On Sunday, May 20, 2012, at 5 PM at Mt. Hebron High School, the HC STARS will hold their third annual end-of-the-year Celebration. This event will bring together over 500 HCPSS high school students to collaborate as a community of theatre artists and celebrate a season of outstanding work. This exciting theatrical event will feature excerpts from each of the twelve high school theatrical productions, a performance by The All County Improvisational Acting Troupe (ACI) and a salute to the HC STARS critic teams.  An all-county student orchestra will accompany the evening’s entertainment.

This event is open to the public.  Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased on-line at Seat Yourself by following this link:
